One of the biggest differences of shooting architectural verses all other types of photography is the type of lenses used. Although they are used in fine art and product photography, Tilt-Shift lens are most commonly used for architectural photography.

Tilt-Shift lenses allow for compensation for depth of field, perspective effects and most importantly, keystone correction. That is, the apparent leaning of buildings towards the vertical centerline of the photo when shooting upwards, a common effect in architectural photography.

Sometimes, the building is so old, it actually is leaning…………
